Night City is always evolving, and so should your V. If you’ve been feeling like your chrome is getting a little… standard, you’re in the right place. These mods introduce entirely new systems and implants that CDPR probably never even dreamed of.
This list is a rundown of my current favorites, all compatible with the latest patch, that will definitely spice up your next run. It’s a solid addition to the collection of Cyberpunk 2077 articles I’ve been building up.

Neuralware – Chipware Expansion
Let’s be honest, the base game’s chipware selection is kinda limited. You slot in a few things and mostly forget about them. Neuralware completely guts that system and rebuilds it into something far more tactical and engaging, making your neural processor a critical part of your build.

- Introduces over 40 new neural implants, called “chipware.”
- Adds a “Neural Capacity” resource, so you can’t just stack the most OP chips without a trade-off.
- New chip types: Reflex chips for active combat skills, Memory chips that get stronger with use, and Software chips you might need to “crack.”
- You’ll find new vendors scattered around Night City to sell this specialized gear.
✅ Gameplay changes: This mod forces you to think. Instead of a passive upgrade, your chipware becomes a resource to manage. Juggling Neural Capacity to use powerful abilities at the right moment adds a layer of depth that feels like it should have been there from the start. It’s a game-changer for builds that rely on more than just raw firepower.
Black Chrome – Cyberware Expansion
Ever read the “Black Chrome” tabletop book and wished you could get your hands on that gear in-game? Well, now you can. This mod brings in a bunch of lore-friendly, and often illegal, implants that offer some wild new abilities for specialized builds.

- Adds 12 new, custom cyberware pieces inspired by the TTRPG.
- Includes an Auxiliary Cyberdeck for your Frontal Cortex, letting you run a Sandevistan or Berserk and still have some hacking ability. Finally, a proper netrunner-solo hybrid.
- A “Skunk” toxic gas deployer for when enemies get a little too close for comfort.
- Fortress Legs that make you tankier the faster you move toward an enemy.
✅ Gameplay changes: Black Chrome is all about creating new build possibilities. The illegal implants come with big rewards but also significant trade-offs, making your choices at the ripperdoc feel way more impactful.
It’s perfect if you feel like you've hit the ceiling with the vanilla cyberware options. And for anyone looking to add a bit of ink to their V, check out my favorite tattoo mods over here
Tatoo mods for CyberpunkRaven Gemini II – Full Body Conversion Cyberware
If you’re looking for the ultimate themed build, the Raven Gemini II mod is it. It’s not just a collection of random parts; it’s a complete, synergistic cyberware line. This is for players who love optimizing and want to commit to a full-body conversion concept.

- Introduces the entire Gemini II cyberware set, covering every implant slot.
- Features an “Interlink Attunement System.” The more Gemini II parts you install, the more powerful each individual piece becomes.
- Every implant has its own unique stats and bonuses, but the real power comes from the synergy.
- Designed to be compatible with most other body and arm mods, which is a huge plus.
✅ Gameplay changes: This mod rewards commitment. It makes you feel like you’re actually building a cohesive, top-of-the-line cyborg. Watching the synergy bonuses stack up as you complete your set is incredibly satisfying and leads to some seriously powerful late-game builds.
Cyberware-EX – The Multi-OS and Expanded Slot Mod
Why choose between a Sandevistan, a Cyberdeck, and a Berserk when you can have them all? Cyberware-EX breaks the vanilla game’s biggest limitation, letting you install multiple operating systems and other implants simultaneously. It’s a dream come true for anyone who loves to min-max.

- Unlocks new cyberware slots through perks or by paying a ripperdoc.
- Lets you install and switch between multiple Operating Systems.
- You can combine different leg and arm cyberware, like having a Projectile Launcher and Mantis Blades at the same time.
- The system is balanced through capacity costs and perk investment, so you don’t become a god overnight.
✅ Gameplay changes: Pure freedom. This mod lets you create the jack-of-all-trades V you’ve always wanted. Want to slow time with a Sandy, then pop out of it and quickhack everyone? Now you can. It opens up so many hybrid builds that just weren’t possible before.

Cyberpunk gameplay overhaul modsSynthDose – More Drugs and Toxicity System
For players who want a grittier, more dangerous Night City, SynthDose delivers. It adds a whole new layer of resource management with combat drugs and a toxicity system that ties directly into your cyberware.

- Adds over 15 new consumable drugs with a range of powerful effects and nasty side effects.
- Introduces a toxicity mechanic. Using certain drugs and cyberware builds up toxicity, which can be fatal if you’re not careful.
- New cyberware like the “Detoxifier” module helps you manage toxicity, even turning it into a benefit like healing.
- Highly customizable, so you can tweak the balance to your liking.
✅ Gameplay changes: This mod adds a fantastic risk-reward loop. Popping a powerful drug can turn the tide of a fight, but you’re always watching that toxicity meter. It makes combat more frantic and strategic, and the new cyberware designed around the system is a great touch.
Stealthrunner – Stealth Gameplay Expansion
Stealth in Cyberpunk 2077 can feel a bit one-dimensional at times. Stealthrunner fixes that by adding a proper progression system and rewarding a ghostly playstyle with unique cyberware and perks. It’s not just an implant mod, but the cyberware it adds is essential for any ghost of Night City.

- Adds a full-fledged stealth perk tree.
- Introduces new stealth objectives to gigs and missions (Ghost, Pacifist, etc.).
- Completing these objectives rewards you with XP, money, and exclusive recipes for iconic gear.
- Unlocks new, powerful stealth-focused cyberware at ripperdocs as you prove your skills.
✅ Gameplay changes: This gives stealth gameplay the depth it deserves. Instead of just being a way to start a fight, stealth becomes its own reward system. The exclusive cyberware you unlock makes you feel like a true master infiltrator, and replaying gigs to hit every objective is surprisingly addictive.
Mods Installation Recommendations
Installing Cyberpunk 2077 mods is pretty straightforward these days, but you need a few core tools to get started.
- Cyber Engine Tweaks: This is the foundation for many mods. It’s a framework that allows other mods to function.
- RED4ext: Another essential script extender that a lot of the newer, more complex mods rely on.
- Vortex Mod Manager: While you can install mods manually, I highly recommend using Vortex. It handles installation, load order, and uninstallation for you, which saves a ton of headaches.
Always read the mod page descriptions carefully. Mod authors will list any specific requirements or potential conflicts. It’s the best way to ensure a smooth, crash-free experience.
Ensuring Your New Cyberware Works with Phantom Liberty
A big question is always compatibility, especially with a massive expansion like Phantom Liberty. Good news all the mods on this list are actively updated by their authors and are confirmed to be working with the latest game patch, including the Phantom Liberty DLC. You can usually count on popular mods staying up-to-date. Just make sure you download the latest versions of both the mod and its required framework tools.
And there you have it. Six mods that will seriously upgrade your chrome and give you a fresh reason to jump back into Night City.
If I’ve missed a killer implant mod you think deserves a spot on this list, feel free to hit me up. I’m always looking for new stuff to test out, and I’ll gladly add it if it makes the cut. Happy modding, chooms.
