Top Johnny Silverhand Themed Mods For Phantom Liberty DLC

Johnny Silverhand. The ghost in the machine, the rockerboy legend who just won’t shut up. Love him or hate him, he’s a permanent resident in V’s head for most of the game. While you can’t evict him, you can change his look, his clothes, and even his voice.

If you’re tired of the same old engram, these Johnny Silverhand mods give you the power to customize the legend himself. This is just one part of my ongoing project of crafting the ultimate Cyberpunk 2077 experience, and these mods are a great place to start.

PROJECT 2020 – The Second Edition

Let’s be real, the Keanu Reeves version of Johnny is cool, but for long-time fans of the universe, it’s not the original Johnny. This mod scraps the Hollywood look and rebuilds him from the ground up to match his classic, glam rock aesthetic from the Cyberpunk 2020 tabletop game.

Project 2020 johnny silverhand overhaul mod showing the tabletop glam rock aesthetic.
  • Offers multiple face and hair options from different eras of his life, including the Arasaka assault.
  • Lets you fully customize his appearance—face, hair, and outfit.
  • Aims for an authentic look based on the original source material.

Gameplay changes: This is a massive visual overhaul. Johnny will look like a completely different person, one who feels a lot more like a chrome-addicted, anti-corporate rockstar from the 80s. It’s a huge shift in tone every time he appears, perfect for anyone who prefers the old-school lore.

Johnny Silverhand Is In His Thirties

Ever notice that Johnny looks… kinda rough for a guy who died at 34? This mod addresses that by giving him a subtle facelift, making him appear younger and less weathered without losing the essence of his character.

  • Contains a hand-edited face texture and normal map for his modern head model.
  • Reduces skin redness, broken capillaries, and general roughness.
  • Keeps the high-quality details like his beard and eyebrows intact.

Gameplay changes: It’s a subtle change, but it makes a difference. He no longer looks like he spent 50 years on the road; instead, he looks like the young, pissed-off idealist he was supposed to be. It makes his character feel a bit more believable, age-wise.

Johnny Silverhand (Keanu Reeves Edit)

So you like the Keanu Reeves look, but you think it could be… more Keanu? This mod is for you. It makes very subtle tweaks to Johnny’s face to enhance the resemblance to the actor who plays him.

  • Slightly alters Johnny’s facial features, especially around the eyes and nose.
  • Aims to make him look more like the actor without a drastic overhaul.
  • Simple installation, just drag and drop.

Gameplay changes: This isn’t a dramatic change, more like a fine-tuning. You’ll find yourself thinking, “Yeah, that looks a bit more like him.” It’s for players who want to lean into the actor’s portrayal rather than move away from it.

Changing Johnny is one thing, but making Night City feel different is another. If you're into visual overhauls, you should check out my list of Cyberpunk weather mods that can completely change the city's vibe

Weather mods for Cyberpunk 2077

Silverhand Samurai Clothing incl. Aviators Johnny Glasses

If you want to steal Johnny’s style for V, this is the mod. It adds his iconic Samurai band clothing as wearable items, complete with the glitchy holographic effects you see on his engram.

Silverhand samurai clothing mod letting V wear Johnny's iconic red aviator glasses.
  • Adds his Samurai Jacket, vest, pants, and boots for V to wear.
  • Includes his signature red-tinted aviator glasses.
  • Even includes options for his holographic arm and face texture for V.

Gameplay changes: This is pure style. You can finally rock Johnny’s complete legendary outfit, not just the jacket. The holographic arm is a particularly cool touch for roleplaying a character who’s slowly being taken over by the engram.

SAMURAI Jacket for Johnny

It’s always bothered me that Johnny, the frontman for Samurai, rarely wears his own band’s most iconic piece of merch. This mod fixes that simple oversight by replacing his default vest with his legendary SAMURAI jacket.

  • Swaps Johnny’s vest for the SAMURAI jacket during his engram appearances.
  • Gives him his signature rockerboy look consistently.
  • A simple visual change that makes a lot of sense for the character.

Gameplay changes: It just feels right. Seeing Johnny consistently rocking his own jacket reinforces his identity and makes his appearances feel more authentic. A small tweak, but one that adds a lot to his character’s presentation.

The Matrix 2077 – Johnny Silverhand

What if the rockerboy was also The One? This mod is a fun crossover that replaces Johnny’s alternate DLC appearance with a look inspired by Neo from The Matrix.

  • Transforms his alternate outfit to a Matrix-style design.
  • Requires you to enable his alternate appearance in the game settings.
  • A perfect mod for fans of both cyberpunk worlds.

Gameplay changes: This is pure, unadulterated fan service, and it’s awesome. Seeing a Neo-inspired engram glitching into your vision is a fantastic little crossover moment. It’s just for fun, and that’s what modding is all about sometimes.

Johnny Hair Edits

If you’re tired of Johnny’s standard haircut, this mod adds a couple of new, lore-friendly options with full physics.

  • Adds two new hairstyles: “Fluffy” and “Undercut.”
  • The hair has physics, so it moves realistically.
  • The new styles are also available for male V.

Gameplay changes: It’s another great way to customize the engram. Giving Johnny a different hairstyle can surprisingly change his whole vibe, and the fact that the hair actually moves adds a nice touch of quality.

Speaking of appearances, if you're looking for more ways to customize your own character, I've got a great list of Cyberpunk hair mods that add tons of new styles for V

Johnny Silverhand Preset V2

This one is a little different. It’s not a mod that changes Johnny, but rather a character preset that lets you make your V look exactly like him.

  • A character preset file for use with the Project CyberCAT save editor.
  • Transforms your V’s appearance to match Johnny’s.
  • Requires an external tool to apply.

Gameplay changes: This is for the ultimate roleplaying scenario. If you want to play as if Johnny has completely taken over, this is the way to do it. It creates a very weird, but cool, dynamic in scenes where V and Johnny are talking to each other.

SHUT UP Johnny

Look, sometimes you just need a little peace and quiet. If you’ve played through the game enough times, you might be tired of hearing the same lines over and over. This mod does exactly what it says on the tin: it mutes him.

Shut up johnny mod for Cyberpunk 2077 that mutes the character's voice lines.
  • Removes all of Johnny’s voice lines from the base game and Phantom Liberty.
  • Subtitles and dialogue prompts still appear, so you don’t miss any story.
  • A simple mod for a quieter playthrough.

Gameplay changes: The game becomes… strangely serene. It offers a completely different, almost meditative experience where you can focus on the world and the missions without Johnny’s constant commentary. It’s not for everyone, but it’s a fascinating way to replay the game.

Mods Installation Recommendations

Most of these are simple appearance mods, which usually means an easy installation.

  1. Read the descriptions! Always the first step. Mod authors will list any requirements, like Cyber Engine Tweaks, or conflicts with other mods.
  2. Simple Archive Install: For most of these, you just need to extract the .archive file from the download and place it in your Cyberpunk 2077\archive\pc\mod folder. If the ‘mod’ folder doesn’t exist, just create it.
  3. Check for Special Tools: A mod like the Johnny Silverhand Preset V2 requires an external tool (Project CyberCAT Save Editor). The mod page will always tell you what you need and how to use it.

Your Personal Rockerboy Customization

These mods give you the control to decide how the legend of Johnny Silverhand appears in your playthrough, and that level of personalization is what keeps me coming back to Night City.

If I’ve missed a great Johnny mod you think should be on this list, feel free to contact me. I’m always on the lookout for new stuff to test and would be happy to check out your recommendations.
