Judy Alvarez. She's easily one of the best characters in Cyberpunk 2077. Her story is gripping, her personality has depth, and plenty of players wanted to experience her romance arc. The catch? CD Projekt Red made that storyline exclusive to V with a feminine body and voice.
But this is PC gaming, right? Rules are more like… guidelines. The old Nexus mod that made this easy disappeared long ago, but we can still make it happen. All it takes is a little console command magic. If you've been wondering how to romance Judy as male V, let's get to it.
Which romances are available to male V?
First, the canon options. If you're playing male V and want to follow the intended story, Night City offers two choices:
- Panam Palmer: Requires a masculine body.
- Kerry Eurodyne: You need a masculine body and a masculine voice.
Both are excellent characters with strong questlines. But you're not here for them, are you? 😉
How to enable Judy's romance for male V
1. Install Cyber Engine Tweaks
Before doing anything else, we need to unlock the in-game console. The tool for the job is Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET). It's an absolute must-have if you're serious about modding Cyberpunk 2077.

- Download the latest version of Cyber Engine Tweaks. It is usually found on GitHub or Nexus Mods.
- Extract the archive. You'll find several files and folders inside.
- Drag them into your main Cyberpunk 2077 folder, or use Vortex for automatic installation. The path usually looks like [Game folder]/bin/x64/. Make sure version.dll ends up in the same folder as Cyberpunk2077.exe.
- Important: Disable any active overlays. The Steam overlay, RivaTuner, Fraps and similar tools can conflict with the mod's console window and stop it opening.
- Steam usually installs these automatically, but check that you have the latest Visual C++ Redistributable packages just in case.
2. The console command for Judy's romance
Once the mod is installed, you're ready. Timing is critical: do this before or during Pyramid Song. Make a manual save immediately before starting the quest, just in case.

- Load your save.
- Open the console. The default key is usually tilde ~ (I use Ctrl + F4), but you can change that in the mod settings.
- Carefully type or paste the command into the console.
- Press Enter. That's it: you've flipped the switch.
Command:
Game.GetQuestsSystem():SetFactStr("judy_romanceable", 1)

Now play through the quest normally. The romance dialogue and scenes should become available.
3. Commands for checking the result
Not sure the command worked? You can check. Open the console again and enter this:
print(Game.GetQuestsSystem():GetFactStr("judy_romanceable"))

If the console gives you a "1", then everything is fine. If it shows "0" or nothing, something went wrong and you should try to type the main command again.
Alternative command format
You can also try this command. It does the same thing:
for i, v in next, {"judy"} do Game.GetQuestsSystem():SetFactStr(v.."_romanceable", 1) end
Important notes about using these commands
This workaround is stable, but it isn't perfect. Here are a few things to expect before you start rewriting fate in Night City.
When to use the command
I've mentioned this already, but it bears repeating: timing is everything. You must use this command before or during Pyramid Song.
The moment the quest appears in your journal, stop and make a manual save. Don't rely on autosaves. That gives you a clean save to return to if anything goes wrong. Once you've run the command and the quest is active, the new dialogue options simply appear, as though they were always meant to be there.
Voice acting limitations
This is where things get a little strange, and rather interesting. Most of the time, you'll hear male V's normal voice. Occasionally, though, a line recorded for female V plays instead. It can sound jarring, certainly. But it also gives you a glimpse behind the scenes of development.
This practically confirms that CDPR recorded the entire romance with both voice actors. The lines exist in the game files. That makes their decision to lock the romance behind V's body and voice even more questionable. Why record all of it just to hide it? A mystery for another day, I suppose. 🤔
Game version compatibility
You don't need to worry about your game version breaking this. The method has been around for a long time and is confirmed to work with Cyberpunk 2077 version 2.0 and later, including Phantom Liberty. I personally tested it on the latest patch, so it's fine.
Why was the Judy romance mod removed from Nexus?
You might remember a simple Nexus mod that did this in one click. Why did it disappear? Nexus Mods administrators removed it.
The official reason they gave concerned their policy against changing a character's “canonical” sexual orientation. It was a controversial decision, let's put it that way. Especially when mods allowing female V to romance the canonically heterosexual Panam were left untouched at the same time. Sounds like a double standard, doesn't it? Yeah. That whole mess left us with the console method. It works just as well, with a little more typing.
Managing other romances
Since we're adjusting relationships in Night City, why stop with Judy? The same method can configure other romances or disable them altogether if you decide V is better off alone.
To enable Panam's romance for female V:
Game.GetQuestsSystem():SetFactStr("sq027_panam_lover", 1)
To disable any romance:
Just find the right command and replace “1” at the end with “0”. It's basically saying to the game, "No, it's not going to happen."
It’s an easy way to gain complete control over your V’s story, regardless of the limitations set by the game.
Judy romance questions answered
Can male V romance Judy on the current patch (Phantom Liberty 2.3+)?
Yes, absolutely. The console command method described here works with the latest game versions, including patch 2.3 and Phantom Liberty. It obviously isn't an official feature, but the workaround is stable, and the developers don't seem interested in patching it out.
Why can't male V romance Judy normally in the base game? Is she exclusively lesbian?
In Cyberpunk 2077, Judy is written as a lesbian. It's a deliberate part of her character and backstory. Her preferences aren't a bug or a limitation tied to player stats; they're a fixed narrative decision CD Projekt Red made when creating her. The console command doesn't change her character. It simply bypasses the game's scripted check.
Can similar commands enable romances with characters such as Panam or Kerry?
Kerry is already a main romance option for male V, so you don't need commands for him. For Panam, though, the principle is the same. Female V can use a similar console command to switch Panam's romance flag, despite her being canonically heterosexual. It works the same way: you're telling the quest system to ignore its usual character requirements.
Are there risks or bugs when using mods or commands to romance Judy as male V?
“Risk” is a strong word. You won't corrupt your save or break the game. The biggest, most noticeable “bug” involves voice acting. You'll usually hear male V, but occasionally a line from female V's dialogue plays instead. It can sound jarring, but it doesn't break quests. More an odd quirk than a critical error. As always, making a fresh manual save before experimenting with console commands is good practice.
Was male V's romance with Judy cut content or disabled by the developers?
The evidence suggests it was disabled rather than truly cut. We know male V's voice actor recorded all of Judy's romance dialogue. Those audio files are right there in the game. Cut content is usually removed altogether.
