10 Fallout New Vegas Armor Mods 🎮 2026

Fallout: New Vegas armor mods: Brotherhood, Legion, and NCR

Fallout: New Vegas came out in 2010, and its vanilla armor looks… well, like 2010. Blurry textures, angular models, and the same outfits on every other NPC. The Mojave clearly needs a visual upgrade.

The Fallout: New Vegas armor mods in this selection replace power armor, NCR equipment, and Legion gear with detailed 4K versions, add unique Courier sets, and generally make the wasteland a place where people wear different equipment.

Power Armor Visual Enhancement (PAVE)

PAVE reworks every power armor type in New Vegas and Tale of Two Wastelands with custom high-resolution textures. Replaces the default files with detailed versions featuring unique gloves for each set, without changing stats. Purely cosmetic, for anyone tired of blurry T-45 and T-51 armor.

Power Armor Visual Enhancement (PAVE), HD power armor textures for Fallout.
  • Custom high-resolution textures for all power armor (T-45, T-51, Advanced PA MKI/MKII, Tesla, Hellfire), with realistic reflections on metal and glass surfaces.
  • T-51 and T-45 have custom normal maps baked from high-poly models; other sets use a mixture of upscaled and custom maps.
  • Unique gloves for each armor type, with improved rigging: textures no longer stretch during animations.
  • Model fixes such as T-45's dislocated arms, plus full reworks in later versions, including new Hellfire textures and a consistent dark-gray tone for all Advanced PA variants.
  • TTW compatibility, separate plugins, and patches for Titans of the New West or Power Armor Reshape.

✅ How gameplay changes: Power armor finally looks like an item from 2077 rather than a Quake II render. Metal reflections, crisp seams, and properly proportioned gloves let you feel the exoskeleton's weight instead of wearing a cardboard box with 512×512 textures. Crucial for immersion, especially if you love the Brotherhood of Steel or heavy power armor in general.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration Pack

Anniversary Pack is a community collection of retextures and model replacements for vanilla creatures and armor by several popular authors. Updates basic NCR sets, raider armor, and assorted leather and metal items without adding equipment or changing stats. A refinement of the original design to celebrate the game's tenth anniversary.

10 Year Anniversary Celebration Pack, lore-friendly vanilla armor retextures.
  • Updated vanilla armor models and textures by Dragbody, DogtoothCG, TheFriedTurkey, Xgamer468, LordOfWar, and others.
  • 2K/4K options for detailed surfaces, seams, and wear.
  • Lore-friendly improvements preserving the original aesthetic.
  • Requires Honest Hearts and Lonesome Road; dedicated TTW files are included.

✅ How gameplay changes: Vanilla armor stops looking like modeling clay. NCR vest seams, scratches in metal, and proper leather textures are small details, but pleasing ones. Balance and stats stay unchanged: you simply get attractive visuals instead of blurry smears from 2010.

PM’s HD Legion Overhaul

PM's HD Legion Overhaul is a dedicated HD retexture set for all Caesar's Legion armor, headgear, Marked Men sets, and related items. Modernizes the Legion's iconic look with realistic materials, seams, and wear while staying as faithful as possible to vanilla designs. No radical changes, just a careful, high-quality update that any hardware can handle.

PM's HD Legion Overhaul, HD retextures for Caesar's Legion armor.
  • 33 new 4K/2K/1K textures with HD normal maps, created from scratch.
  • Changes Caesar's and Legate Lanius's armor, all legionary sets and headgear, Marked Men equipment, and more.
  • Full integration with PM's HD Troopers, Wasteland Clothing Hires, and Super Mutants HD where needed.
  • No model changes, ensuring full body-mod compatibility; works with fixes such as Fix for the Caesar Legion Armors.

✅ How gameplay changes: The Legion finally looks like a formidable army rather than cosplayers in thrift-store rags. Detailed leather, metal, and helmet feathers make it feel like a genuinely militarized tribe with a hierarchy and resources.

ADAM Reborn

ADAM Reborn is a complete overhaul and continuation of the original ADAM, upgrading every ranger armor set and helmet in the game and all DLC with significantly improved models, textures, and features. Covers NCR ranger armor, riot gear, patrol variants, and new lore-friendly options, including previously missing female models. Also includes rebalanced stats, modular patches, and conveniences such as matching world models and smart vision modes.

ADAM Reborn, an overhaul of NCR ranger armor.
  • High-quality models and textures for all vanilla and DLC armor types.
  • Female models for previously unsupported items, plus alternative riot helmets without antennas.
  • Rebalanced equipment, reworked quest assets, and a new Rangers on Patrol module.
  • Modular patches for Project Nevada, Advanced Recon, and Faction Armor Usage Enhancement, adding vision modes and extra properties to all equipment.

✅ How gameplay changes: You get varied ranger gear, including female models and new variants, balance improvements, and helmet vision modes, almost like Metro with its night vision and filters. Essential for NCR fans and ranger role-play: the armor finally looks like elite equipment.

PM’s HD Ranger Outfits

PM's HD Ranger Outfits is a dedicated 4K retexture set for all casual and civilian NCR ranger outfits and hats: red scarf, vest, standard variants, and brown/gray/beige hats. Adds realistic materials, seams, and design fixes as part of a broader vanilla-style NCR visual update.

PM's HD Ranger Outfits, 4K textures for NCR ranger clothing and hats.
  • 7 new textures with a choice of 4K/2K/1K, plus HD normal maps for realistic cloth and wear.
  • Lore-friendly improvements fixing vanilla problems without changing the overall silhouette.
  • Pairs perfectly with Wasteland Clothing Hires for a complete patrol armor transformation.
  • Lightweight and fully compatible with the latest game version, with no armor model edits for maximum body-mod support.

✅ How gameplay changes: Civilian NCR ranger clothing looks dramatically better. Vest seams, fabric folds, and properly detailed hats make characters seem to wear actual clothing. Ideal for a vanilla look: it preserves the designs and brings their quality up to modern standards.

The Courier

The Courier adds a complete lore-friendly armor set designed for the player character and inspired by popular Courier cosplay concepts. Includes the main armor, a helmet, and several scarf variants: red, green, dirty multicolored, and tucked-in. Everything is available at the start in a chest behind Doc Mitchell's house.

The Courier armor set, inspired by Courier cosplay concepts.
  • Custom armor, a harness variant, helmet, and scarf options with medium protection in the lore-friendly version.
  • Patches for Advanced Recon, Project Nevada, and Helmet Overlay.
  • World models and icons included; works with male and female bodies, with possible minor holstered-weapon clipping.

✅ How gameplay changes: You can finally look like the Courier from trailers and artwork instead of wearing starter rags or stolen NCR armor. The medium-armor set is balanced for the early game but has a distinctive, recognizable look. A good choice if you want to establish your character's own visual canon.

The Long Road Ahead — Armor Pack

The Long Road Ahead is a from-scratch armor and clothing overhaul integrated into the story. Lets your Courier's equipment develop naturally as the main story progresses. You start with basic clothing and improve it through crafting and exploration, eventually reaching faction sets for the finale.

The Long Road Ahead – Armor Pack lets player armor evolve in Fallout: New Vegas.
  • New armor types: Courier Clothes (+1 Agility), Bullet Scarred Hat (+1 Perception), Gunslinger Vest (+5 Guns), Road Jacket (+5 Survival), Rugged Backpack (+50 carry weight), prototype riot armor and helmet, and complete faction variants (NCR, Legion, House, Independent) with unique bonuses.
  • All items are crafted at workbenches from story-related objects, with male and female models, world meshes, and Pip-Boy icons.
  • Stats improve as you progress with increased protection and higher skill and attribute bonuses. Equipment can be repaired.

✅ How gameplay changes: You literally see the Courier grow from a battered messenger into a faction representative wearing unique equipment that reflects your choices. Skill and attribute bonuses give each piece a purpose, while crafting is tied to the story. You earn armor through quests and exploration rather than simply finding it in a chest.

Caesars New Regime — Legion Overhaul

Caesars New Regime completely overhauls the Legion, replacing every vanilla legionary armor set with high-quality alternatives while adding gameplay features. Created by dragbody with textures by Weijiesen, it transforms legionaries, elites, centurions, and key NPCs with new sets, helmets, and equipment. Adds a fully voiced companion, new classes, tougher minibosses, and a populated underground Legion location.

Caesars New Regime – Legion Overhaul replaces Legion armor models.
  • Complete replacement of all vanilla legionary sets, including recruit, prime, veteran, centurion, and praetorian, with new models and HD textures. Includes unique centurion armor, assassin armor for Vulpes Inculta, huntress armor variants, and helmet fixes.
  • Adds Achilles, a fully voiced Legion companion, with recruitment dialogue in the Legion safehouse; a playable version of his armor is included.
  • Creates new Legion classes and upgrades NPCs to minibosses (Otho, Alexus, Dead Sea), changes weapon leveled lists, and adds unique equipment such as Shishkebab Mk II, Edge of Eli, and Blade of the North.
  • Adds a vendor to the Legion dungeon, a player home, forge, caged behemoth, and visual improvements, including a Resident Evil 4-style merchant and extra bonuses at the Legate's camp.
  • Female Legion huntress armor is now craftable, and Caesar's armor gets a harsher, more imposing appearance.

✅ How gameplay changes: The Legion becomes a fully developed force with its own identity instead of an unfinished faction. You get distinctive equipment for every rank, a new companion, a populated hub with a merchant and crafting, and stronger enemies with unique loot.

Spice of Life — Variety Armor and Clothing Robert Breeze Type3

Spice of Life is a lightweight clothing-variety mod that significantly reduces the Mojave's “everyone wears the same outfit” problem. Adds dozens of new and reworked clothing items, armor, hats, gloves, backpacks, and ponchos to random NPC inventories, vendors, and containers. Focused on immersion, without new stats or quests.

Spice of Life – Variety Armor and Clothing diversifies NPC outfits.
  • Adds 32 armor and clothing pieces, 64 headwear items, 21 gloves, 11 backpacks, and 9 ponchos. Many are entirely new or rebuilt from scratch with improved textures, icons, and models.
  • Items distributed through leveled lists for natural variety.
  • Full Pip-Boy compatibility, wound decals, and world models. An optional Project Nevada patch adds headgear overlays, with repair recipes for broken items.
  • Compatible with Diversified Wasteland mods through a patch.

✅ How gameplay changes: Raiders wear different rags, caravaneers carry backpacks, and townspeople have distinctive outfits. The wasteland becomes visually varied and alive. Balance and stats remain unchanged, making this a purely visual improvement to the atmosphere. Especially noticeable in populated locations such as Freeside or Novac.

Anniversary NCR Armor Overhaul

Anniversary NCR Armor Overhaul is a faithful vanilla-style retexture and fix package for NCR trooper armor, extracting and improving only the NCR content from 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Pack. Adds high-quality trooper armor, mantles, helmets, military police uniforms, and fatigues across the faction while fixing spawning, mismatched female helmets, Camp McCarran crashes, glove textures, and missing retextures.

Anniversary NCR Armor Overhaul, fixed HD textures for NCR trooper armor.
  • Complete retexture overhaul of all NCR trooper armor sets using assets from 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Pack, plus fixes for fatigues, helmets, military police uniforms, and gloves. Uses the reworked glove model on all troopers.
  • Ensures correct spawning on male and female troopers, fixes texture errors, and resolves Camp McCarran-related crashes and scripting issues.
  • Preserves 100% vanilla stats and names : purely visual, with no new content or plugin-list bloat beyond minimal fixes.
  • Must be installed after 10 Year Anniversary Celebration Pack.

✅ How gameplay changes: Armor detail, consistent equipment, and proper glove textures make the NCR look like a large, organized faction with resources and standards. The mod also fixes bugs and crashes, improving stability in NPC-heavy locations.

Mod installation recommendations

Basic advice, but worth repeating so you do not waste hours setting up mods.

  1. Install mods through Vortex: manual installation these days is masochism. 😉
  2. Read Nexus mod pages for dependencies, including DLC, NVSE, body mods, and installation order.
  3. Use ArchiveInvalidation so textures load correctly; without it, half these mods will not show their new files.
  4. Check body-mod compatibility: Spice of Life requires Robert/Breeze/Type3, or you will get skin visual bugs.
  5. Install compatibility patches: if you combine several overhauls of the same faction, look for patches on Nexus.
  6. Back up saves before installing large mods such as Caesars New Regime: they change NPCs and may break active quests.
  7. Sort your load order through LOOT or manually in your mod manager. Texture packs usually go last.

Which armor mod suits your playstyle?

PAVE and the PM's HD sets provide visual improvements without balance changes; ADAM Reborn and Caesars New Regime add content and mechanics; Spice of Life solves NPC uniformity in a single mod. Your choice depends on whether you want cosmetic improvements or a full faction overhaul.

Armor is only part of what needs modding. My Fallout: New Vegas mod collection also covers weapons, graphics, animations, companions, radio, and major overhauls, all in one place.

If I missed an armor mod you consider essential, use the feedback form. I will test it and may add it. I am particularly interested in lesser-known mods with few downloads but high quality, such as Anniversary NCR Armor Overhaul. Happy modding!
