I’ve learned the hard way that dropping 1.5 million eddies on vehicles is kinda stupid when you can get most of what you need for free. And yeah, I know the feeling – scrolling through Autofixer, seeing that €$155,000 Rayfield Aerondight, thinking “maybe just this one.” Don’t. There’s a better way.
This whole thing got way simpler after the 2.0 update. No more waiting for fixers to spam your phone (thank god), no more annoying texts at 3 AM about some car you can’t afford anyway. Now you’ve got Autofixer terminals scattered around Night City, plus you can buy from any computer with internet access. Including the one in your apartment.
Before we get into the money-saving stuff, you should check out my main Cyberpunk 2077 resource hub where I break down everything from builds to story choices. But right now? We’re talking cars, eddies, and how to not be broke while still filling your garage.

What Changed with Autofixer After Patch 2.0?

El Capitan “Muamar” Reyes runs this whole Autofixer operation now. You’ll get a text from him during the prologue, real casual introduction to what becomes your main car shopping hub. These terminals show up on your map with a car icon next to a price tag. Open your map, filter to Service Points, look for the car plus price tag icon, multiple terminals in each district.

Or just use any computer. Your apartment PC works perfectly fine for browsing and buying vehicles. I’ve done most of my vehicle shopping from V’s apartment while sorting inventory at 2 AM because I’m too lazy to drive somewhere.

The interface organizes everything by manufacturer tabs. Most vehicles lock behind Street Cred levels (we’ll get to that), and some require finishing Vehicle Contracts for El Capitan if you’ve got Phantom Liberty. You need to complete Act 1 first – specifically “The Heist” mission – before most vehicles become available. Game’s way of making sure you’re not cruising around in a Rayfield before you’ve even met Johnny.
Quick thing about the system: it’s instant. No delivery wait times, no realistic nonsense. Buy the car, it shows up in your vehicle list. Done.
Free Vehicles You Need to Grab First
Here’s where we save serious money. There are 13+ completely free vehicles sitting around Night City and the Badlands, just waiting. Some are better than what you can buy for six figures. No joke.
Rayfield Caliburn “Murkmobile”
This thing hits 1,660 HP and is literally the fastest car in the entire game. Normally costs €$127,000. You get it for free if you know where to look.

During the “Ghost Town” mission with Panam, you drive out to this mine where you fought Nash. After the mission’s done, go back to that mine tunnel. There’s a shipping container inside with the Caliburn just… sitting there. Take it. It’s yours now.
There’s a catch though – you need Street Cred 40 for the follow-up side job to appear. But honestly? Worth the wait. I used this car for probably 60% of my Badlands driving.
Quadra Type-66 “Hoon”
Free weaponized vehicle. Has mounted machine guns. Available right after the prologue. This is kinda ridiculous when you think about it.

- Head to Watson’s Northside district – fast travel to Longshore North.
- There’s a warehouse area, enter the second warehouse on the left. Johnny appears (because of course he does), triggers the “I’m in Love With My Car” quest.
- The car keys are hidden under some debris in a box near the shelving units. Little annoying to find but take your time.
Combat controls: press ALT on PC, Y on Xbox, Triangle on PS to activate the machine guns. I’ve used this thing more than I probably should have. Something satisfying about rolling up to NCPD hustles with firepower already installed.
Johnny Silverhand’s Porsche 911
His iconic car from the flashbacks. You get it during “Chippin’ In” quest, but there’s a specific dialogue choice required.

When the moment comes (you’ll know), choose to put your weapon away and say “Got lucky today.” You’ll receive a keycard that unlocks a container with both the car and Johnny’s gear. Miss this dialogue choice and… well, you miss the car. Reload if that happens.
The car itself? Looks amazing, handles pretty well, and has that whole “driving a legend’s ride” vibe. Not the fastest or most practical, but it means something narratively.
Quadra Turbo-R V-Tech (V’s Iconic Car)
This is the car from all the trailers and promo material. V’s “signature” ride. You get it automatically at the end of Sex on Wheels, so don’t worry about missing it. Just keep playing and it shows up.

Good all-around performance, nothing spectacular stat-wise, but it’s your car from a story perspective. I kept it in rotation just because.
Other Free Vehicles Worth Getting
- Colby CX410 Butte – Sitting at an abandoned Desert Film Set in the Badlands. No requirements, no quests. Just drive there and take it. Free pickup truck.
- Alvarado Vato – Win the “Beat on the Brat: The Glen” side quest fight. Decent reward for what’s honestly a pretty fun fight anyway.
- Delamain No. 21 – Complete “Epistrophy” quest by decommissioning 7 infected cabs. Running around finding rogue AI taxis sounds tedious (it kinda is), but the car’s worth it.
- Apollo Scorpion – Automatic reward during “Life During Wartime” main quest. Can’t miss it.
- Jackie’s Arch Motorcycle – Received automatically after Jackie’s story plays out. Heavy stuff narratively, decent bike practically.
- Nazare Itsumade Motorcycle – Another story progression reward. Shows up naturally.
That’s a solid garage right there. Zero eddies spent. Now let’s talk about if you actually want to buy stuff.
I've also got a guide on Get Free Vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty that covers some additional rides and methods specific to the DLC content:
Get Free Vehicles in Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom LibertyThe Autojock Achievement
Want the Autojock trophy? You need to purchase the original 26 vehicles from launch. Costs approximately €$1,354,000 total. Yeah.

Important things to know:
- Free vehicles don’t count toward the achievement
- DLC vehicles and quest rewards aren’t required
- You only need Street Cred 50 maximum to unlock everything purchasable
Honestly, this achievement is more about completionism than practicality. Most players won’t need 26 cars. But if you’re going for it, here’s the full list with current pricing after Patch 2.0.
How To Farm Eddies for Vehicle Purchases
You need somewhere between 1.4-1.8 million eddies to buy everything. Sounds like a lot (it is), but there are efficient ways to get there without boring yourself to death.
1. Just Play the Game
Most reliable income? Complete missions and gigs. Main story missions, side quests, fixer gigs – they all pay well and don’t rely on exploits or repetitive grinding. This should be your primary income source. The game throws enough content at you that you’ll naturally accumulate eddies.
2. Loot Everything and Sell Smart
I mean everything. Weapons, clothes, junk items – pick it all up. Some junk sells for €$750+, and weapons sell for significantly more than other items.

Drop Points are your best friend. Those yellow stations marked with a box icon on your map. Fast travel near one, dump all your junk with one button press, collect eddies, repeat. Quick and efficient.
One thing I learned the hard way – don’t disassemble high-value junk. That €$6534 katana? Sell it. You get way more value from the sale than the crafting components it breaks down into.
3. Use Optimized Farm Routes
If you want dedicated farming, the Pacifica Pier is absurdly effective.

Earnings? 50,000-100,000+ eddies per hour depending on how efficient you are and your level. I usually throw on some music and zone out for 30-40 minutes when I need quick cash. Works every time.
4. NCPD Scanner Hustles
Those blue NCPD events scattered everywhere? Reported Crimes, Assault in Progress activities – they’re quick cash plus Street Cred increases.

Clear the enemies, loot everything, move to the next one. Not the highest paying activity per event, but they’re everywhere and fast to complete.
5. Access Point Hacking
Requires minimum Level 5 Intelligence and the Advanced Datamine perk. Hack Access Points throughout the game for €$600+ per hack with perks maxed.

Not huge money individually, but it adds up when you’re hacking every terminal you pass naturally during missions.
6. Disassemble vs Sell Strategy
Early game? Sell everything. You need eddies more than crafting components.

Late game when you’re trying to upgrade Iconic weapons? Disassemble Tier 5 items for components. But still, never disassemble that €$750 junk. Always sell high-value items.
Speaking of leveling – you want to level up as early as possible because higher-level NPCs drop better loot which sells for more eddies. I cover efficient leveling routes and XP farming in detail over in my guide on how to level up faster in Cyberpunk 2077 where I break down the best approaches for early-game progression.
Cyberpunk 2077 leveling guideStreet Cred And Cars
Most purchasable vehicles lock behind Street Cred levels. Max is 50, and you need to hit that to buy the most expensive rides.
Fastest Ways to Increase Street Cred
Complete Gigs – Easiest method. Fixers give you gigs throughout Night City, finish them, get Street Cred XP. Simple.
- NCPD Activities – Assault in Progress events are the fastest. Organized Crime and Reported Crimes work too. Same activities that give you money also bump your Street Cred.
- Kill Wanted Enemies – Use your scanner to identify wanted gang members and criminals. Each kill grants Street Cred. Not huge amounts, but it’s passive income while you’re doing other stuff.
- Main Story Progression – Story quests naturally increase Street Cred when you encounter bounty targets. Just playing the game gets you there eventually.
- Cyberpsycho Hunts – Little trick here: use melee weapons to incapacitate tough enemies without killing them, then finish them for the Street Cred boost. Works on most high-value targets.
Street Cred unlock thresholds you care about:
- Street Cred 0: 8 vehicles unlocked
- Street Cred 12: Most mid-range vehicles available
- Street Cred 20-30: Premium vehicles start appearing
- Street Cred 40: Caliburn side quest triggers
- Street Cred 50: Everything unlocked
Took me maybe 25-30 hours of natural gameplay to hit 50? Don’t stress it, you’ll get there.
Weaponized Vehicles and How to Unlock Them
Phantom Liberty DLC added weaponized vehicles with mounted guns and missiles. They require specific steps to unlock, mostly through Vehicle Contracts.
Best Combat Cars
- Quadra Type-66 “Hoon” – FREE, machine guns, very fast. Already covered this one. Best weaponized vehicle for zero eddies.
- Thorton Galena “Gecko” – €$45,000, front guns, off-road capable, good speed around 140+ mph. Most affordable purchasable weaponized vehicle. Solid choice for early Dogtown content.
- Thorton Galena “Locust” – €$60,000, missiles plus wide front guns, off-road, more agile than Gecko. Better weapon alignment makes it easier to actually hit targets while driving.
- Archer Quartz “Sidewinder” – €$90,000, dual machine guns, lock-on missiles, fastest weaponized car, enhanced durability. This is the one you save up for if you’re serious about vehicle combat. Worth every eddy.
- Militech Hellhound – €$160,000, six wheels, heavy armor, machine guns plus missile launcher. Trades speed for survivability. Honestly too slow for my taste, but if you want a tank on wheels, here you go.
How Do Vehicle Contracts Work?
Vehicle contracts don’t appear right away.
You’ll need to complete the early main jobs up to “The Ride” and gain access to the open world (after meeting Dex).
Once you’ve reached that point, fixers begin to contact you with side gigs and eventually, vehicle offers.

Look for steering wheel icons on your minimap, enter the marked vehicle to trigger “Push It to the Limit” intro quest, deliver the vehicle to El Capitan’s drop-off point while dealing with pursuing enemies.

Each contract unlocks specific weaponized vehicles on Autofixer. Some have optional objectives like time limits, no damage deliveries, chase scenarios, hacking requirements – completing these gives better rewards.
The missions themselves? Pretty fun honestly. High-speed chases through Night City, combat while driving, trying to not wreck a €$100,000 car you don’t own yet. Good stuff.
Autofixer Discount Shards – How To Get Cars for Free
This is where Phantom Liberty gets really generous. You can stack discount shards to get 95-100% off expensive vehicles.

Here’s how it works: complete Vehicle Contracts to earn discount shards, discounts stack with diminishing returns, 10 discount shards equals 95% discount, discount applies to your next vehicle purchase only, after buying something you need to collect new shards to rebuild the discount.
The math breakdown:
- 1 shard = 24% discount
- 2 shards = 39% discount
- 10 shards = 95% discount
Strategy is obvious – stack shards to max discount before buying the most expensive vehicles. That €$160,000 Hellhound or €$155,000 Aerondight? Get them for basically free if you’re patient with the contract grinding.

Car races in Phantom Liberty also award discount shards. They are kinda simple, remember, you can bring guns with you and weaponized vehicles 🙂 Did I use this to get the Hellhound for free? Absolutely. Did I use the Hellhound much after that? …not really, but I got it for free so whatever.
Which Cars Actually Offer Good Value?
Let’s talk performance-to-cost ratio because spending €$150,000 on marginal improvements is dumb.
Best Bang for Your Buck
- Yaiba Kusanagi CT-3X – €$58,000. Best affordable motorcycle, handles perfectly, weaves through Night City traffic like butter. If you’re buying one bike, this is it.
- Mizutani Shion “Coyote” – €$77,000. Perfect for Badlands, handles desert terrain better than most, fast enough for everything you need. Great all-around vehicle.
- Quadra Type-66 “Cthulhu” – €$67,000. Fast sports car, sleek design, good performance. One of my favorites for city driving. Looks amazing at night.
- Archer Quartz EC-T2 R660 – €$31,000. Cheapest sports car with decent speed. Street Cred 12 required. Solid budget option if you want something faster than the starter cars.
- Thorton Galena “Gecko” – €$45,000. Weaponized, off-road, good speed, affordable. Best early-game combat vehicle. Already mentioned it but worth repeating.
Vehicles to Skip
- Rayfield Aerondight S9 “Guinevere” – €$155,000. Not worth it. Performance doesn’t justify the price compared to vehicles costing half as much.
- ARCH Nazaré Racing Bike – €$71,000. Outperformed by much cheaper motorcycles including the Kusanagi at €$58,000. Save your eddies.
- Makigai MaiMai P126 – €$22,000. Slowest car in the game at 119 mph. Only buy this for Autojock achievement completion. Otherwise ignore it completely.
Most expensive doesn’t mean best in this game. I learned that after wasting money on the Aerondight and barely using it 😅
Smart Shopping Tips for Building Your Garage
Let me save you some mistakes:
- Get all free vehicles first before buying anything. This includes the fastest car in the game (Caliburn) and best free weaponized option (Hoon). Why spend money when you don’t have to?
- Focus on Street Cred early. Higher Street Cred unlocks more vehicles and better cyberware. Max level is 50. Push for this naturally through gameplay.
- Complete Vehicle Contracts in Phantom Liberty to stack Autofixer discounts if you have the DLC. Get expensive stuff for free basically.
- Don’t buy anything until after Act 1. Most vehicles aren’t available until after “The Heist” mission anyway. Save your early-game eddies for cyberware and weapons.
- Invest in cyberware and weapons first. Vehicles are transportation. Your combat effectiveness matters way more than what you’re driving around in.
- Motorcycles over cars for city navigation. Easier to weave through traffic, generally cheaper, better for urban driving. I use bikes probably 70% of the time in Night City proper.
- Manual save before mass purchasing for Autojock. Save your game before buying all 26 vehicles for the achievement. After it pops, reload to keep your eddies. Totally valid strategy, no regrets.
Street Cred requirements at a glance: Street Cred 0 gives you 8 vehicles, Street Cred 12 opens most mid-range options, Street Cred 20-30 unlocks premium vehicles, Street Cred 40 triggers the Caliburn side quest, Street Cred 50 unlocks literally everything purchasable.
Don’t Go Broke for a Digital Garage
You don’t need every vehicle in Cyberpunk 2077. Most players will be perfectly happy with the free vehicles plus maybe 3-5 purchases for specific purposes. The Autojock achievement is for completionists, and even then you can save a ton by using Phantom Liberty’s discount system.
Hear my advice – save your eddies for cyberware that actually changes how you play. A Sandevistan or Berserk operating system matters way more than owning 26 cars you’ll never drive. Quickhacks, weapon upgrades, armor mods – invest there first.
Night City’s expensive enough as it is. No reason to make it worse by dropping millions on cars when the best ones are literally free.
Still Got Questions, Choom?
€$1,354,000 to buy all 26 vehicles required for the Autojock achievement (post-Patch 1.5). Earlier versions required up to €$1,798,000. If buying all vehicles including DLC additions, the total can reach €$1.5-1.8 million.
No, difficulty does not affect vehicle prices or offers. Vehicle prices are predetermined and remain the same regardless of what difficulty setting you play on. Only your Street Cred level determines which vehicles unlock for purchase.
Primary methods:
- Complete all missions, gigs, and NCPD hustles (main income source)
- Loot everything and sell at Drop Points (5,000-20,000+ eddies per run)
- Farm Santo Domingo/Pacifica routes (50,000-100,000+ eddies per hour)
- Hack Access Points with Advanced Datamine perk (600+ per hack)
- Complete Vehicle Contracts to earn Autofixer discount shards (up to 95% off)
- Craft and sell high-tier items or weapons
I believe that most players who complete 100% of content still need to farm an extra 200,000-600,000 eddies.
Yes, on PC using the Cyber Engine Tweaks mod:
- Install Cyber Engine Tweaks mod
- Press tilde key (~) to open console
- Enter: vs = Game.GetVehicleSystem()
- Then enter: vs:EnableAllPlayerVehicles() to unlock ALL vehicles
- Or use: vs:EnablePlayerVehicle(“[vehicle string]”, true, false) for specific vehicles
This bypasses Street Cred requirements and costs, but you won’t receive unlock notifications.
No, you cannot permanently keep stolen cars. Stolen vehicles cannot be added to your virtual garage. They disappear when you exit them or fast travel. Only vehicles you purchase or earn through missions are saved permanently.
There’s a temporary workaround: park stolen cars at V’s apartment garage and they may persist for a few gaming sessions if you don’t destroy them, but this is unreliable and they eventually despawn.
Yes, if you prioritize combat over speed.
Pros:
- Tank-like armor, nearly indestructible (5.5 magazines to explode)
- Dual machine guns + missile launcher
- Six wheels with unpoppable tires
- Best durability in the game
- Plows through vehicles and terrain
- Intimidating presence
Cons:
- Very expensive (€$160,000)
- Low top speed (100-150 mph vs. 210 mph fastest cars)
- Slower acceleration (12 seconds 0-60)
- Large size makes narrow streets challenging
Worth it for combat-focused playstyles, vehicle warfare, and players who want a mobile fortress. Not worth it if you prioritize speed.
Speed: Rayfield Caliburn “Mordred” – 210 MPH, fastest car (tied with Yaiba Semimaru)
Combat: Archer Quartz “Sidewinder” or Militech Hellhound
- Sidewinder: Dual machine guns + lock-on missiles, 210 MPH speed, best combat-to-speed ratio
- Hellhound: Tank-level armor, machine guns + missiles, highest durability
Overall Best (Free): Rayfield Caliburn “Murkmobile” (Batmobile)
- 1,660 HP, fastest in game (210 MPH)
- Free to obtain in Ghost Town mission
- Dominates all other vehicles in lap time tests
The Caliburn/Murkmobile is universally considered the single most powerful vehicle due to its unmatched speed and the fact it’s obtainable for free.
