City of Dreams Overhaul

Vanilla Cyberpunk combat is fine, but it becomes predictable, right? Once you learn enemy patterns, you soon play on autopilot. Combat Revolution burns that predictability down. It rewrites enemy AI completely, turning each firefight into a wild, high-stakes battle. Enemies are smarter, far more aggressive, and certain to punish careless play.

• Rewrites AI for much greater aggression: enemies pursue relentlessly and do not forget you just because you hid behind a crate.
• Adds dynamic accuracy. Enemies lose their imperial-stormtrooper aim, making firefights more believable and deadly.
• Gives enemies access to cyber implants like Sandevistan and Kerenzikov. Yeah, seriously. Good luck fighting a bandit who can slow down time.
• Adds new special effects that make explosions and bullet impacts feel much more satisfying.

Dark Future — Urban Survival Gameplay

Dark Future brings you back to reality by adding a complete survival system. It forces you to manage your basic needs, turning the simple act of living in Night City into a challenge.

• Adds basic survival metrics: Hydration, Nutrition, Energy, and even your mental state (Nerves).
• Introduces alcohol and drug addiction systems, as well as trauma systems that reduce your effectiveness when you’re injured.
• Limits fast travel and makes carry capacity more realistic, forcing route and equipment planning.
• The mod is very flexible, so you can choose exactly the level of brutal survival you need.

✅ Gameplay changes: completely changes the pace. You are no longer just a mercenary sprinting between gigs, but a person trying to survive. It adds a thoughtful, measured layer that makes the world feel much more real and dangerous.

HARDCORE22 V2 Complete — Realistic Combat Overhaul

If you think a headshot should mean a headshot, no questions asked, this is for you. HARDCORE22 starts with a simple, frightening idea: everyone has 100 health. You, gangs, police, everyone. Bullet-sponge fights become tense tactical encounters where one mistake sends you to the grave. Difficulty feels genuine rather than artificial.

• Each person in the game has 100 HP. The battlefield is brutal and absolutely equal.
• Weapon damage has been reconfigured accordingly. Guns, rifles and shotguns feel incredibly lethal.
• Stronger enemies, such as mechs and drones, are much more tenacious, making them a serious threat to prepare for.
• Weapon upgrades are no longer just about big numbers; they become critical to gaining tactical advantage.

✅ Gameplay changes: heart-pounding combat. You cannot charge into a room and absorb bullets. Every encounter needs caution and precision, making you appreciate cover and stealth in ways the base game never demanded.

Enemies of Night City

A complete overhaul of the enemy roster. Enemies of Night City reworks everyone from street punks to iconic bosses, adding stats, moves, and faction-specific abilities. Fighting Maelstrom feels entirely different from fighting Voodoo Boys, and victory demands learning their new tactics.

• Each gang now has unique traits and weaknesses, forcing you to adapt tactics.
• Bosses rebalanced and gained new abilities. Adam Smasher got his own time dilation because, of course, he must have it.
• Expands the wanted system and adds weak points for elite enemies.
• Combat AI is divided into archetypes: Reckless, Tactical and Balanced, which dictate the behavior of the enemy.

✅ Gameplay changes: The variety that this mod adds is simply incredible. Fights become much less monotonous because you are constantly adapting to different types of enemies. It makes the world more dangerous and interesting.

Guns Redone V3.0 (Overhauled)

If you enjoy Cyberpunk firefights but want the feel of a dedicated shooter, Guns Redone is essential. It rebalances every firearm, emphasizing mechanics that depend on player skill.

• Shooting is now based on recoil, not random scatter (bloom). Your accuracy depends on your skill.
• The new caliber-based damage system creates a more logical and consistent hierarchy of weapons.
• More optical sights are available, which gives better opportunities for customization.
• Adjusts nearly every firearm property, from rate of fire to damage range.

✅ Gameplay changes: firefights feel like a real test of skill rather than roulette. Hitting a target takes practice, and a consistent damage model makes your weapon choice more meaningful.

Cyberware-EX

Ever been annoyed at choosing between Sandevistan and a cyberdeck? Cyberware-EX asks why you should have to choose. It unlocks V’s potential by allowing multiple operating systems together. Slow time with a Sandevistan, enter Berserk, and still have a deck ready for hacking.

• Allows simultaneous use of Cyberdeck, Sandevistan and Berserk.
• Combines combat cyberware, such as the Projectile Launch System alongside Mantis Blades.
• Requires buying upgrade slots from the ripperdoc or investing in perks, so it feels deserved.
• Opens up a huge number of new opportunities for builds and combat strategies.

✅ Gameplay changes: removes build-making boundaries. You are no longer restricted to being only a netrunner or street samurai. Become a genuine cybernetic hybrid, which is as good as it sounds.

Night City Alive (REDmod)

Night City can be stunningly beautiful, but sometimes it feels like the setting for a movie. Night City Alive transforms this scenery into a lively, chaotic ecosystem. With this mod, gang members drive in traffic, civilians react more realistically (and sometimes aggressively), and spontaneous gang wars can break out on a street corner right in front of you.

• Gangs have a real presence in the world, driving their customized cars around their own territories.
• Civilians are more alert and will respond more dynamically to crime and chaos.
• Spontaneous, unscripted fights can break out between feuding gangs.
• You can choose low, standard or high-density options to control how chaotic your city becomes.

✅ Gameplay changes: It turns even a simple trip around the city into an adventure. Mod adds a wonderful layer of unpredictability.

Reinforcements System

Normally, clearing a gang hideout ends when the last enemy falls. This mod changes that pattern. Enemies can and will try to call reinforcements. If successful, a fresh wave of thugs arrives, turning a simple encounter into a desperate, escalating battle for survival.

• Enemies under pressure will try to call for reinforcements, which is displayed by the phone icon.
• The “heat” system means that the longer the battle goes on, the stronger the incoming reinforcements become.
• The type of reinforcement depends on which gang you’re fighting and on whose territory you’re on.
• Your wanted level can affect reinforcement squad size and strength.

Equipment-EX

Equipment-EX is a gift for anyone customizing V’s appearance. This complete transmog system adds dozens of clothing slots and an outfit-management interface. Finally, wear that excellent jacket without sacrificing armor stats.

• Adds over 50 new clothes slots for incredibly detailed customization.
• The advanced layer system allows you to combine elements of clothing to create unique styles.
• You can save an unlimited number of custom outfits and switch between them instantly.
• Works seamlessly with both vanilla and modded clothing.

✅ Gameplay changes: Although it does not change the action, the mod significantly transforms role-playing and self-expression. It gives you complete freedom over the appearance of your V, which is a huge victory in terms of quality of life.

Virtual Atelier

Ever spotted an NPC’s amazing outfit and spent two hours searching for it? Virtual Atelier solves that. The framework lets modders add in-game online shops, so V can browse and buy almost any vanilla or modded clothing straight from a computer.

• Adds an in-game network of stores available from any computer in the apartment.
• It gives access to a huge catalog of clothing, including many rare or hard-to-find items.
• It is the central hub for most clothing mods, making it easy to find new styles.
• It even includes a preview feature so you can see what the item looks like before you buy it.

New Game Plus — Native

For another run as a fully chromed legendary V, this mod adds the New Game+ mode we wanted. Carry level, skills, gear, and cyberware into a restarted story, with stronger enemies to keep the challenge.

• You can transfer your level, reputation, perks, characteristics, cyber implants, weapons, clothes and money.
• Choose to start from the beginning or immediately after the robbery (The Heist).
• Enemies scale, getting buffs and better gear to provide a worthy challenge.

Welcome to Night City 2.3 Collection

Essentially another gameplay overhaul, with a different philosophy from City of Dreams. Its 256 mods target vanilla-plus, improving and expanding every aspect while staying close to CDPR’s vision. For a much better game that still feels like Cyberpunk 2077, it is an excellent choice. Be aware that it contains adult content.

• A stable, curated list of 256 mods tested for compatibility.
• The focus is on improving the vanilla game, not replacing it completely.
• A balanced mix of gameplay changes, visual upgrades and QoL enhancements.
• Designed for easy installation via Vortex and with a Nexus Mods Premium account.

Mod installation recommendations

Installing one or two mods manually may be fine. For a proper overhaul setup, however, install carefully and thoughtfully. Almost all rely on core modding frameworks. Install those and confirm they work before doing anything else:

Seriously, sort out that foundation first. With giant collections such as City of Dreams or Welcome to Night City, do not attempt manual installation. Use a manager such as Vortex and spare yourself a world of pain. And, for the love of chrome, read mod pages.

That’s the list that came out. Each of these mods offers a fundamentally different way of playing Night City. They are a testament to the passion of the community, turning the game we already love into something deeper, more complex and more personal.
