Best Cyberpunk 2077 Mod Collection 🎮 In 2026

Cyberpunk 2077 mod collection: how to build your dream Cyberpunk

I stopped believing in ready-made modpacks long ago. Download a collection, unpack it, launch the game, and there is your perfect Cyberpunk. Sounds good, but it rarely works. We all have different hardware and preferences; the idea of one correct Night City seems absurd to me.

This page is a map of my main mod selections, which you can combine however you like. Want a livelier city? Choose NPC and weather mods. Tired of vanilla progression and leveling? Explore XP and cyberware options.

How to put together your own mod setup

Who is this guide for?

New to Cyberpunk 2077 modding? Everything is logically divided into categories, without requiring you to decipher countless acronyms and conflicts. Each link leads to a selection of the best mods with their features explained.

For anyone wanting improvements without breaking balance, this is especially useful. Add a few interface and atmosphere mods without turning V into an invincible god with a futuristic plasma katana. Balance is fragile, as I often remind you in these articles.

Cyberpunk modding meme 2077.
😭 Please, just update CET.

If you update mods after patches, CD Projekt Red’s surprise hotfixes, such as patch 2.3 in July 2025, make these categories useful. Check which mods have updates and which remain on older versions. It saves considerable time.

How to choose categories for modifications?

The main rule is to avoid installing everything indiscriminately. I once tried fitting 150+ mods into the game and got crashes on every load. Night City and your saves cannot stretch indefinitely. This is not Skyrim, and you do not need 100+ mods.

Here’s how I recommend you do it:

  • Choose 2-3 directions (gameplay, visual, immersive) and move consistently
  • Start with the foundation: graphics and performance first, then confirm the game runs.
  • Add gradually: one mod, launch, test, then the next.
  • Check compatibility: some mods conflict within archives; others overwrite the same files.

I explain these cases in detail, but the general rule is simple: if two mods change the same mechanic, such as perk leveling, there is a 99% chance one will break.

Gameplay and progression mods

Experience, levels and leveling

Vanilla progression seems pretty reasonable for the first 20 hours. Then you realize that XP trickles in slowly, unlocking perks is dull, and you want more control over character development. Especially on your third playthrough, when you know every quest by heart.

XP and leveling changes offer everything from faster XP to perk-tree overhauls. Speed progression up, stretch it across a whole playthrough, or remove levels and tie character strength to gear alone. There are plenty of choices.

New implants and capabilities

The game’s cyberware looks cool, but there is not much of it. The lore suggests a huge range, yet your actual choices are limited. You want more cybernetics, more builds, and more strange combinations that turn V into a real cyborg rather than just someone with Mantis Blades.

Cyberware expansions add operating-system chips and distinctive arms, legs, and eyes. Some overhaul the whole system for greater depth. If you enjoy experimenting with builds, start here.

Weapons and combat systems

Cyberpunk 2077’s weapons look great, but eventually become repetitive. Find a favorite pistol or rifle, upgrade it fully, and never change it. Uneven balance leaves new guns giving you little reason to switch.

Weapon mods for Cyberpunk 2077

Weapon mods address that. New models, rebalanced weapons, and reworked shooting mechanics. Choose tactical combat, exotic lore-friendly weapons, or realistic damage. It depends on your version of Cyberpunk.

Realism and difficulty

With the right cyberware, Cyberpunk becomes easy even on the highest difficulty. Enemies die quickly, V becomes a tank by mid-game, and death is rare. Some enjoy that; I miss the tension of the opening hours.

Realism mods make the game harsher. More damage from enemies, less health for V, restrictions on healing items, and changes to the economy. Some mods completely rework enemy AI and behavior, making every firefight a challenge. If you want Night City to be genuinely dangerous, look here.

Mods for Night City’s immersion and atmosphere

Immersive mechanics

Night City is beautiful but sometimes feels like scenery. Static NPCs, little response to your actions, missing details: I want the city to breathe beyond cutscenes.

Atmosphere and immersion improvements add crowd reactions to gunfire, new world behaviors, and interactive elements. Some trim the HUD for a cinematic feel; others add environmental interaction animations.

Braindances

Braindances are among Cyberpunk 2077’s most underused mechanics. A few story scenes let you feel like a detective, then they disappear. The lore describes an entire entertainment industry, but gameplay barely uses it.

Braindance expansions add what was missing: recordings, vendor purchases, and related quests. If braindances should be a real part of Night City instead of just a plot device, look here.

NPC and city revitalization

Cyberpunk 2077’s crowds remain a sore point. They appear from nowhere, disappear around corners, and lack daily routines. CD Projekt partly addressed this with patches, but perfection is still far away.

NPC behavior improvements add visual variety, realistic routes, and weather and time-of-day reactions. Some increase density if your hardware allows; others make individuals more distinctive. The city starts to live instead of repeating identical models.

Weather and visual design

Rain, neon reflected in puddles, and industrial fog create Night City’s atmosphere. Vanilla weather can be predictable and fail to match the mood I want.

Weather and climate mods control atmospheric conditions. Increase rain, add weather effects, and adjust lighting by time of day. Some make Night City darker or brighter. Essential reading if visual atmosphere matters to you.

Radio and sound environment

Cyberpunk 2077’s radio is good, but the track selection is small. After a hundred hours, you recognize every song from its first few seconds, and the magic fades. You want something fresh: new stations and new genres.

Radio and music mods add tracks, stations, and reworked playlists. Import your music or add lore-friendly songs from the universe. Sound shapes immersion more than you might expect.

Character mods, quests, and story additions

Companions and key characters

Cyberpunk 2077 is a story about people. Judy, Panam, Kerry, Johnny are all important to the story and the atmosphere. But sometimes you want to change their appearance, add new dialogue, or just spend more time with them.

Johnny Silverhand mods for Cyberpunk 2077
  • Judy is a fan favorite. Judy additions include clothing, appearance changes, and expanded romances. If you enjoy her storyline, there is plenty to try.
  • Panam is a charismatic mercenary from the Badlands. Panam improvements also focus on appearance and additional interactions. Make her romance more detailed, or change her model to suit your taste… 😉
  • Kerry Eurodyne is a rocker with a history. Kerry story expansions add story elements, cosmetic changes, and sometimes quests. For anyone wanting more after his side jobs.
  • Johnny Silverhand is the ghost in your head. Johnny changes can recreate his tabletop appearance, add lines, or alter how intrusive his presence feels.

New missions and content

After roughly five playthroughs, you want fresh quests rather than repeating old ones. The problem is that creating complete missions is difficult, so these mods remain rare.

Additional quests and stories offer missions, storylines, and expanded existing jobs. Quality varies, but some feel professionally integrated into the original. A way to extend your time in Night City.

Anime Edgerunners

The anime Edgerunners came out in 2022 and gained a cult following. Many people came to the game after watching the series, so mods connecting the two worlds were a natural result.

Edgerunners mods include character outfits, locations from the anime, and story references. Create a David-inspired V or add pieces of his team’s equipment. Essential installs for fans of the series and anime enthusiasts.

Mods for visual character transformation

Faces, bodies and appearance

Creating a character gives a decent choice, but over time you want more. More face presets, more body variations, more detail control.

Face customization expansions add new options. Make V more realistic, go for a stylized look, or create someone entirely unique.

Body model changes alter physics and detail. Some improve character detail, others animation realism. Explicit NSFW options exist, but I do not cover them here; explore those yourself.

Hairstyles, tattoos, clothes

Customization of appearance includes not only the face and body. Hairstyles, tattoos, clothes – all this is important. In a vanilla game, there is a choice, but limited.

New hairstyle options add haircuts, colors, and styles. Give V a mohawk, choose long hair, or find more extreme hairstyles. There is plenty of choice.

Expanded tattoos include lore-friendly artwork, realistic designs, and references to the Cyberpunk universe.

Wardrobe changes cover jackets, pants, footwear, and accessories. Dress V as a Corpo, street mercenary, or netrunner. Some separate appearance from armor stats so you can wear what you like without sacrificing protection.

Mods for the world, movement, and housing

Parkour and mobility

In the original game, V jumps, climbs, runs – everything is basic. I want more vertical movement, more tricks, more freedom.

The Best Parkour Mods for Cyberpunk 2077

Parkour overhauls add wall-sliding, jump animations, and better environmental interaction. The city becomes a place to experiment beyond its streets and buildings. We were promised a vertically developed world from release, after all.

Cars and transport

Patches improved vehicle handling, but mods go further through new cars, altered physics, and vehicle customization.

Vehicle expansions add real-world cars, futuristic concepts, and better handling. Turn the game into a racing simulator or add a few attractive cars to your garage.

Apartments and accommodation

V lives in a megabuilding, but the apartment can feel like little more than a fast-travel point. Without customization or a sense of home, story scenes provide the main reason to return.

Apartment improvements add homes, decoration, storage, and workshops. You gain a role-playing sense of home and reasons to return beyond saving and buffs.

Interface, animation, and performance mods

HUD and convenience

The HUD is informative but cluttered with icons, notifications, and markers. Some like that; I find it distracting and prefer a cleaner, minimal look.

Interface customization adapts the HUD: remove clutter, resize elements, or add functions. Choose an almost empty screen or more information. Flexibility always helps.

Animations

The animations are done well, but mods can make them better. Smoother movements, new animations for interactions, improved physics.

Animation overhauls offer a new gait, combat animations, and improved cutscenes. Small changes that affect the whole experience.

Graphics

Cyberpunk 2077 looks amazing, but mods can squeeze even more. New textures, improved lighting, altered effects – all this makes the game even more beautiful.

Visual improvements include ReShade presets, texture packs, and lighting changes. Choose realism, stylization, or refinements to existing visuals. Watch hardware load: beauty comes at a cost.

Performance

Not everyone has a high-end GPU. Cyberpunk 2077 is demanding, and even powerful PCs suffer FPS drops. Mods can help.

Performance and FPS mods trim unnecessary work and improve the engine. Gain 10-20 FPS or stabilize frame rates, particularly important on midrange hardware.

Gameplay overhaul mods: when you want to change the entire game

Some mods change individual aspects of the game. Others rebuild it completely: new progression, new balance, and new mechanics, all at once.

Complete gameplay overhauls turn the experience into something else. They take time to learn, often conflict with other mods, and need deliberate installation. The result can feel almost like a new game on the same engine.

Important warning: major overhauls conflict with most other mods. Start from a clean installation and avoid mixing in many smaller changes, or crashes and bugs may replace the improved gameplay.

Decided what belongs in your Cyberpunk 2077 mod setup?

Mods are about choice. What will Night City be like for you? Livelier, tougher, more beautiful, more complex? The answer depends on your preferences.

I stopped believing in perfect mod setups a long time ago, because everyone has their own ideal version of the game. Some care about graphics, others about gameplay, and some simply want more time with Judy. All of that is fine, and it is exactly why I divided the modifications into categories instead of imposing one rigid list.

Choose categories, explore the mod selections, install gradually, and check compatibility. It takes longer than downloading one archive. But the result reflects your choices rather than someone else’s idea of the perfect Cyberpunk.

Good luck in Night City. 😉 Just don’t forget to make save backups.
