New quest and mission mods for Cyberpunk 2077

Finished the main story of Cyberpunk 2077, cleared every fixer’s gig, and perhaps seen every ending? Yes, that was fun, but now Night City feels a little empty. I get it. Vanilla content runs out faster than eddies on a Corpo shopping spree, and suddenly you are wandering the streets looking for the excitement of meeting Dex or the emotional gut punch of Judy’s questline.

For more ways to change your Night City experience, my Cyberpunk 2077 section covers everything from visual upgrades to gameplay tweaks. Here, though, we are focusing on missions: what these mods do, and why they deserve your time.

One More Light

Deceptious created this mod to demonstrate custom quest-making with existing game assets and dialogue systems. What matters is how naturally it fits the game, rather than simply being new content. You are not fighting an absurdly powerful boss or infiltrating a megatower, although there is nothing wrong with either. You are dealing with grief, tying up loose ends, and checking on people who mattered to Jackie.

The title of the quest mod One More Light is on the wall of the Night City Columbarium.
  • Starts 36 in-game hours after Jackie’s ofrenda, and naturally after installing the mod.
  • Mama Welles sends the message that starts the quest.
  • Uses vanilla assets, but creates an entirely new narrative thread.
  • Completely replayable – you can go back and interact with the characters once you’re done.
  • Available in several languages.

✅ Gameplay changes: a story-focused mission rather than a fight, giving emotional moments room to land in a game that rarely slows down. If you care about V’s relationships and want more than “shoot that, hack this,” this is for you. It is also replayable, unusual for custom quests that are often finished and forgotten.

Install Deceptious Quest Core and ArchiveXL: at least 1.4.0 for quest activation, and 1.4.1 for map and GPS tracking. Simply extract into the game’s mods folder.

High Stakes Quest

If One More Light focuses on quiet moments and emotional closure, High Stakes Quest is its opposite. Pure adrenaline: a full Arasaka convoy heist alongside the Aldecaldos, with custom AI voice acting, distinctive combat sequences, and explosions Michael Bay would envy. 😉

Mod High stakes quest with Aldecaldos team ready for mission
  • A complete custom gig with scripted scenes and combat mechanics.
  • Custom AI voice acting that sounds reasonably natural, which is rare in mods.
  • Works best with Enemies of Night City if you want an extra challenge.
  • Available in Portuguese, Polish, Korean, Japanese, French, Czech, and English.
  • Receive a holocall after installation to begin the mission.

✅ Gameplay changes: adds a proper multi-stage heist with planning and execution phases. Coordinate with the Aldecaldos, deal with Arasaka security, and make fast decisions under pressure. Make a manual save before starting and keep mods updated. Custom quests can conflict with other major overhauls.

Requires ArchiveXL v1.17.0+. Just unpack into the Cyberpunk 2077 folder and wait for the call.

Quest Runner – Disappearance of 8ug8ear

Quest Runner is more than a mission: it launches a framework for complex, multi-stage custom quests. Disappearance of 8ug8ear demonstrates what that system can do. A message arrives from 8ug8ear “from beyond the grave,” and you follow a trail through Night City to discover what happened to her.

Quest runner disappearance of 8ug8ear: a character in a car trunk.
  • Starts only if 8ug8ear survived Getting Warmer…
  • Introduces the Quest Runner framework for the future of custom missions.
  • Multi-stage quest with branching paths and elements of investigation.
  • Requires Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET).
  • Install QuestRunner and DisappearanceOf8ug8ear folders.

✅ Gameplay changes: focuses on investigation rather than combat. Follow clues, speak to contacts, and piece events together, capturing the detective atmosphere of the base game’s best gigs.

Take a Breather – Pace and Reputation Overhaul

Take a Breather completely rewrites progression. Quests, locations, and services require Street Cred, turning Night City into somewhere you must work your way through, rather than fast-travel everywhere immediately. Fixers do not trust you until you prove yourself. Particular gigs require reputation in their neighborhood. Restrictive on paper, it makes the game more organic and immersive in practice.

Text mod Take a breather on the background of the Night City panorama in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Slows story progression and gates content behind Street Cred requirements.
  • Unlocks fixers based on district relationships and reputation.
  • New Lore Messages and Integrated Delays for Realism
  • Completely restructures the logic of vanilla quests.
  • Strongly recommended for new playthroughs only; do not install midway.

✅ Gameplay changes: a complete pacing overhaul, rather than a minor tweak. You rise from a street mercenary to a legend instead of being an unknown with access to everything. Stay longer in early areas, finish small gigs before major jobs, and genuinely earn fixers’ trust. Nearly essential for immersive role-play or a slower pace. Seriously, do not install midway through a playthrough: it will break your save. Start fresh.

Encore

Deceptious, also behind One More Light, continues the story after the tank mission with more moments and interactions with Panam. These acknowledge your relationship rather than treating it as a box the game ticked.

The title of the quest mod Encore with Panam sitting on the stairs in Cyberpunk 2077.
  • Available only if you romanced Panam in this playthrough.
  • Adds scenes and interactions after the tank mission, Queen of the Highway.
  • It is naturally integrated into an existing romantic line.
  • Created by Deceptious (by the same author as One More Light).

✅ Gameplay changes: if your character cares about Panam, or you simply want more content with her, this gives the relationship a continuation rather than leaving it hanging. It does not need a huge questline: those quiet moments make the relationship feel alive.

They Will Remember

They Will Remember introduces a reputation and retaliation system that tracks your actions toward every major gang in the city. Attacked the Tyger Claws? They will remember. Helped the Valentinos? They will remember that too. Your choices now really matter, and factions respond accordingly: some turn hostile, while others may cut you some slack. Suddenly, you are navigating gang politics instead of simply shooting everyone without consequences.

Mod They will remember with two characters and a car.
  • Tracks the reputation of all the big Night City gangs.
  • The actions have long-term consequences for factional hostility.
  • Includes systems of reputation, retribution and disguise.
  • Integrates with side quests and gigs for dynamic gameplay.
  • Factions remember and react to your actions throughout the city.

✅ Gameplay changes: perhaps the most influential mod here for your approach to missions. You cannot charge blindly into everything: attacking a gang can close off neighborhoods or make gigs harder. Think strategically about whom you antagonize and why. The disguise system helps you blend into crowds, or at least try, in hostile territory. If you want a living Cyberpunk where decisions have lasting consequences, this is it.

Mod installation recommendations

Installing Cyberpunk mods is straightforward, but a couple of things are worth remembering to avoid headaches later.

Most require ArchiveXL and Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET). Install those first if they are missing. They are fundamental requirements for roughly 90% of Cyberpunk mods anyway.

  • Always read the mod descriptions on Nexus. I know that sounds obvious, but seriously: some mods have specific load-order requirements or compatibility notes that will save you troubleshooting later. If a mod says to install it for a new playthrough, do not try to force it into an existing save. You are just asking for bugs.
  • Make manual saves before installing any major quest mods, especially those that change progression, looking at you, Take a Breather. That way, you have a backup if something breaks or conflicts with another mod. And yes, mod conflicts sometimes happen: if two mods edit the same quest triggers or NPC behavior, one will win and the other will glitch. Nexus usually lists known conflicts in the Posts section, so check there if you run into problems.
  • Update mods regularly. Outdated mods are the leading cause of crashes and odd behavior. Most mission mods here receive active support, but proceed carefully if one has gone months without updates while you use the newest patch.

Why are these mission mods worth installing?

What I value is that these mods are more than filler or generated “go here, kill that, get a reward” jobs. One More Light adds emotional depth to Jackie’s death; High Stakes Quest provides the heist adrenaline vanilla offers only once; Quest Runner proves multi-stage custom missions are possible; Take a Breather makes progress feel earned; Encore continues an abandoned relationship; and They Will Remember gives actions weight in a world that previously did not care.

Cyberpunk modding can be complicated, but my handy mod collection organizes everything with explanations and links.

And look, if I missed any mods that you think deserve a place on this list, feel free to write. I’m always testing new content, and if something is good enough (and stable enough), I’ll add it to the list!
