Do you enjoy running between farms in Cyrodiil? I can tell you right now that alchemy in Oblivion Remastered is hands down one of the best money makers once you know where to look. I’m talking about turning a few hours of ingredient gathering into thousands of gold per cycle. Sounds good? Then let me show you every location worth visiting, from early-game vineyard runs to late-game dungeon crawls for rare drops.
This guide covers the best alchemy farming locations, respawn mechanics, and exactly what you can harvest at each spot. Also check out my Oblivion Remastered hub where I keep all my guides, mods, and other stuff related to the game.
Why Is Skingrad’s Vineyards One Of The Best Farming Spots?
Skingrad is where your alchemy journey really begins. Head to Grateful Pass Stables west of the city. You’ll find around 120 grapes just sitting there waiting for you. Then swing by the fields east of Skingrad’s gate for roughly 90 tomatoes. Both ingredients restore fatigue and you can potentially generate 16,000 gold every 3 days once your skill is high enough. This is still the best early-game location period.

These two ingredients make Restore Fatigue potions, which honestly might not sound exciting but trust me, they’re your bread and butter early on. At novice alchemy levels each potion sells for about 10 gold… multiply that by the sheer number you can craft and you’re looking at 900 gold every 3 in-game days. Once your skill hits Apprentice level you start getting bonus potions, pushing profits closer to 1,800 gold per run.
I mean yeah, you could hunt bandits for loot, but good luck finding that kind of consistent income without risking your neck constantly 😉
Imperial City – The Safest Location For Farmers
The Imperial City offers some ridiculously convenient early alchemy farming because everything’s concentrated in one area. The Market District has The Main Ingredient shop where you can buy herbs and rare ingredients if you’re feeling lazy.

What you can harvest here: sacred lotuses, fly amanita mushrooms in the cemetery near Green Emperor Way, various dungeon ingredients in the sewers (the Imperial City Sewers and Talos Plaza Sewers are full of rats and mud crabs which drop crab meat), and updated flora in the Arboretum area the remaster version actually improved the variety here which is nice.

For players who hate wilderness encounters or just want a safe grinding spot, this location is solid. Plus you’re already in the city so selling potions to merchants takes like two seconds.
What About Weynon Priory and Other Early Farms?
Weynon Priory is located near Chorrol, you will get there while doing the main quest. There are wild flowers and mushrooms nearby too which makes it a decent stop for variety early on.

Odiil Farm southeast of Chorrol is kinda perfect for diversifying your potion recipes. You’ll find watermelon, lettuce, tomato, blackberry, and carrot here solid variety for crafting both Restore Fatigue and Restore Health potions.

Then there’s Harms Folly just east of Imperial City. This spot has tomatoes, leeks, and mushroom varieties scattered around. It also has different mushroom types nearby in the Exhausted Mine that become useful when you’re crafting advanced potions or poisons.

Oh and here's something cool while you're farming around Harms Folly you should absolutely complete the Revenge Served Cold quest. You get Kayleen's Grace buff which is reusable and honestly makes all your farming runs smoother. Two birds one stone situation.
Revenge Served Cold WalkthroughAre There Any Locations Similar To Skingrad?
Yeah actually. Lord Drad’s Estate north of Anvil is stacked with corn, tomatoes, tobacco, and strawberries in generous amounts. No quest requirements, resources respawn consistently, and it pairs really well with Skingrad if you’re trying to maximize ingredient diversity early game.

Blankenmarch northeast of Leyawiin features corn, bergamot, tobacco, wheat and strawberries across its farmland areas. The Tiger Lily here yields Tiger Lily Nectar this stuff restores Endurance and grants Water Walking ability. You can’t find this ingredient at most other farms so Blankenmarch becomes valuable once you start experimenting with different potion effects. Also tons of mushrooms around in the forest.

Shardock farm between Kvatch and Skingard has tons of corn.

Drakelowe Farm blackberry, strawberries, tobacco and lettuce.

Gottlesfont Priory between Chorrol and Skingrad contains pumpkins, tomatoes, watermelon vine, various herbs, and a good mix of other alchemy ingredients including Lady’s Mantle and other wildflowers that restore health. Once you’ve mastered Restore Fatigue potions this location helps you transition into Restore Health crafting which sells for higher prices at merchants.

Shetcombe Farm northeast of Kvatch deserves special mention here because it has massive quantities of vegetables in a single visit. I’m talking about filling your entire inventory if you’re not careful. Definitely add this to your route if you’re serious about alchemy farming.

How Does the Seven-Farm Route Work?
Once you hit level 20-50 range you’ll want to expand your operation with what I call the Seven-Farm Optimal Route. This circuit combines multiple farms:
- Lord Drad’s Estate
- Harms’s Folly
- Shardrock
- Grateful Pass Stables
- Odiil Farm
- Drakelowe Farm
- Shetcombe Farm
Completing this full circuit gives you enough ingredients to craft 400+ potions per cycle. We’re talking 5,000+ gold minimum while leveling your alchemy from Apprentice to Master.
You need to rest in a tavern, inn, or your house for exactly 3 in-game days between runs or the respawn timer won’t trigger properly (to trigger it properly you should be away from the area for three in-game days (72 hours)). Each of these locations respawns every 3 days following the same mechanics.
All the ingredients mentioned in this guide you can find on the UESP wiki.
Best Places To Farm For Late-Game Ingredients
The Arcane University Alchemical Garden becomes accessible after you finish the Mages Guild recommendation quest chain (yeah it’s quest-gated but totally worth it). This garden contains different herb and mushroom varieties growing freely including green stain cups, milk thistle, motherwort, nightshade, primrose, tiger lily, tinder polypore, viper’s bugloss, and wormwood. For late-game ingredient diversity this location is unmatched.

Frostcrag Spire from the DLC (included in Remastered Edition) is accessible immediately after leaving the Imperial Sewers. Located north of Bruma, this place regenerates endlessly with nearly every ingredient including plants that don’t respawn elsewhere. You need to invest gold into upgrades but the Alchemy Lab costs 1,500 gold and provides all four apprentice-level apparatus. The purchased Alchemy Garden refreshes every few days with 30+ different plant varieties.

There’s also a marble table in the living area that gives you a +15 alchemy skill boost just from standing near it. At Master alchemy levels this boosts your potion values by approximately 10 gold per potion because of how skill-based pricing calculations work in Oblivion Remastered.

IMO Frostcrag Spire is the holy grail for serious alchemists but you gotta invest that gold upfront. This the absolute top-tier location for dedicated alchemists.
Which Caves Have the Best Rare Alchemy Drops?
Oblivion Gates (not a cave technically) are your primary source for high-level rare ingredients. Dremora enemies consistently drop Daedra Hearts, Fire Salts, Frost Salts, Void Salts, and Harrada regardless of your level which is honestly a huge relief compared to RNG-dependent loot systems in other games. Higher-level players (22+) encounter Xivilai which also drop hearts. You can buy Daedra Hearts at The Main Ingredient shop in Imperial City Market District for 44 gold if you’d rather skip the combat. Dangerous farming but the ingredients are worth it.

Serpent Hollow Cave halfway between Skingrad and Chorrol has abundant Cairn Bolete and Wisp Stalk mushrooms plus diverse plant varieties suitable for potion crafting. These give Restore Health and Fortify Speed effects which become valuable when you’re crafting specialized potions for harder content.

Robber’s Glen Cave north of Bravil is where things get nuts. This cave features primarily imp and minotaur enemies but more importantly it’s exceptionally rich with 32 monkshood plants near the entrance, 8 fly amanita plants, 2 green stain cups, 5 lavender plants, 1 somnalius plant, and 8 summer bolete plants outside. Inside you’ll find 6 cairn bolete plants and 11 wisp stalk mushrooms. This cave alone can supply a huge chunk of your mushroom needs and Imp Gall from imps .

For those hunting Nirnroot specifically it generates a distinctive chime sound that helps you locate it that typically grows near coastlines throughout Cyrodiil. You can use one of the interactive maps for oblivion remastered.

Lavender can be found on the circular road around Imperial City near Pells Gate and along the road to Bravil if you’re hunting for it specifically.

Alchemy guide for Oblivion RemasteredThe Bigger Picture of Ingredient Hunting
Once you know which farms have the most amount of crops, which caves hide rare mushrooms, and which special locations produce plants you can’t get anywhere else, the whole alchemy system opens up in a satisfying way. Cyrodiil becomes something you read like a map instead of a backdrop.
Doesn’t matter if you stick to the easy vineyard routes around Skingrad, wander through the Imperial City’s safer spots, or just pick up herbs in the locations like the Arcane University and Frostcrag Spire, each area has its own flavor and purpose. Rarer finds like Nirnroot, Daedra Hearts, or hard-to-spot mushroom clusters turn ingredient hunting into a kind of quiet exploration, something you chip away at as you play.
Answered Few Questions Here
Nirnroot. It’s the only plant in the game that doesn’t grow back once you pick it, so every one you find is basically permanent loot. It usually grows near water and gives off that faint chiming sound, which helps a lot when hunting for it. The only spot where it respawns is in Deepscorn Hollow, and that’s the lone exception.
Skingrad is the jackpot. The farms around Grateful Pass Stables (west) and the fields by the East Gate are loaded with grapes and tomatoes more than anywhere else. Once you unlock the Arcane University, its gardens are another great spot with tons of mushrooms and herbs. If you have the Frostcrag Spire DLC, its alchemy garden is even better: around 30 plant types that just keep coming back.
Not really, at least if you don’t like running and dodging a lot 🙂. They do have a few unique ingredients Bloodgrass, Harrada, Daedra Hearts but the time, fighting, and level of danger make them a slow way to farm. They’re more worthwhile for grabbing enchanted gear from Dremora, especially at higher levels. For pure ingredient farming or gold, Skingrad’s routes beat Oblivion Gates by a mile.
