Night City in Cyberpunk 2077 looks spectacular, but after a few hundred hours the seams show. Combat can feel soft, and stylish graphics sometimes resemble a game rather than a living world. Strange, I know. If you want greater realism, you are in the right place.
These Cyberpunk 2077 realism mods remove arcade elements in favor of photorealistic gloom and unforgiving battles. This selection forms a key part of my main Cyberpunk 2077 page, dedicated to collecting the best mods and creating detailed guides.
HARDCORE22V2 Complete — Realistic Combat Overhaul
Vanilla Very Hard often means bullet-spongy enemies. It is exhausting rather than tactical. This overhaul changes the rules entirely. The goal is not artificial difficulty, but fast, deadly combat for everyone, including you. An unarmored enemy no longer needs three shotgun blasts to the chest.

- Limited health: All, both V and enemies, have a health limit of 100 HP. This simple change changes everything.
- Armor overhaul: Clothing armor removed. Your survival depends on implants, skills and, most importantly, positioning.
- Lethal damage: Shots to the head are deadly. A successful shot from almost any weapon will bring down the target. But here’s the surprise — that applies to you, too.
- No sponges: That’s the main thing. Fighting becomes a series of quick, brutal decisions, not a war of attrition.
✅ Gameplay changes: frighteningly realistic firefights. You use cover as though your life depends on it, because with this mod it does. Every encounter needs tactical thought. You cannot simply rush in guns blazing; make a plan.
VisualPrecisionX — PhotoRealism ReShade
If you’ve ever seen the incredibly realistic screenshots from Cyberpunk 2077 and wondered how they did it, then a ReShade preset like this is usually the answer. VisualPrecisionX strives for pure photorealism, turning the sometimes flashy lighting of Night City into something more natural and cinematic.

- Based on Nova LUT “Pure”: Built on the basis of a popular and well-proven mod for lighting, which guarantees a high-quality foundation.
- Bright and alive: Improves colors, textures and lighting, making them more down-to-earth and realistic without killing the game’s iconic aesthetic.
- Performance-friendly: surprisingly lightweight for ReShade. You get a substantial visual improvement without an FPS drop, a major advantage.
✅ Gameplay changes: immersion. Night City feels like a breathing metropolis rather than scenery. Rainy night drives become eye candy, encouraging you to slow down and look.
Nova LUT 3.0 (AgX — HDR Support)
It’s a lighting engine that runs many of the best builds for photorealism. LUT essentially tells the game engine how to color correct the final image. Nova LUT uses a more advanced color space (AgX) to produce colors and contrast that look much more natural and vivid than in a vanilla game.

- The AgX color space: Provides a more cinematic and realistic color palette.
- Lots of options: It offers options for both SDR and HDR displays so that everyone can get the best picture possible.
- Clear visual: Say goodbye to the odd green or yellow hue that sometimes spoils the base game. This mod cleanses the image, making it sharper and more believable.
✅ Gameplay changes: stronger visual character for every district. Corpo Plaza’s sterile gloss feels colder, and Watson’s grime looks grittier. One of the best choices if you are serious about photorealistic graphics.
GITS 3.X (Ghost in the Shell)
Inspired by iconic anime, it’s more than just a mod on lighting; it’s a complete reworking of the visual. GITS profoundly changes the weather, lighting and exposure systems in the game, creating a truly unique and atmospheric picture. If you want a darker, more cinematic Night City, that’s your choice.

- Complete weather overhaul: Changes the appearance and behavior of fog, rain and clouds.
- Improved effects: Improves things like flashes from shots, vision adaptation (how the eyes get used to light/darkness) and ray tracing range.
- Natural color correction: Strives for a visual that feels like a movie, but stays grounded, inspired by the anime of the same name.
✅ Gameplay changes: The foggy nights feel truly oppressive, and the improved lighting makes the shootouts visually stunning. It makes a normal walk down the street feel like you’re watching a movie.
Ultra Realistic Reshade (Pure — Colorful — Nova — Edge)
Not every ReShade must be a complete redesign. This configurable preset is for players who like Cyberpunk 2077’s basic appearance but want refinements, adjusting colors and realism without replacing its artistic style.

- Four options: Pure, Colorful, Nova and Edge offer different shades, allowing you to choose the one that is more to your taste.
- Subtle improvements: It focuses on color correction and increasing the sharpness of the image, forcing existing graphics to play with colors.
- High compatibility: It works well with just about any other visual mod you put in.
✅ Gameplay changes: This mod is good because it allows you to fine-tune the visual. You want something brighter? Take the Colorful. Do you prefer a cleaner, more realistic look? Pure is your best bet. This is a simple way to get an individual picture without unnecessary fuss.
Combat Revolution (AI Overhaul and High-Stakes)
If HARDCORE22V2 makes combat deadlier, Combat Revolution makes it smarter. It completely rewrites enemy AI, confronting you with opponents who think and act like trained fighters rather than shooting-gallery targets.

- Dynamic accuracy: The accuracy of your enemies varies depending on your movement. Standing still is a death sentence.
- Improved AI tactics: enemies flank and use cover effectively instead of waiting to be shot.
- Quick melee: Enemies with melee weapons are much more aggressive and ruthless. It is no longer possible to lazily backtrack, avoiding the attacking opponent.
- Improved pursuit logic: Escape from the fight has become much more difficult. Enemies will pursue you wisely.
✅ Gameplay changes: cheap tactics no longer work. The AI punishes predictable movement, making encounters dynamic and unscripted. Alongside a damage overhaul, it creates exceptionally intense and satisfying combat.
Realistic Map (High-Resolution Map Overhaul)
Little change, but nice. The default 3D map is stylish, but not very practical. This mod replaces it with a high-resolution 2D render of the real game world, making navigation much clearer and more immersive.

- Various resolutions: From 4K to crazy 32K, you can choose the level of detail that suits your hardware.
- Improved clarity: It is much easier to see the layout of the streets, the location of buildings and points of interest.
- Clean interface: The design is clean and unobtrusive, feels like a natural part of the game’s interface.
✅ Gameplay changes: No more squinting at the map trying to figure out what kind of highway exit you want. This makes it more intuitive to plan routes and explore the city. You’ll be surprised how you ever played without that mod.
Ultra Immersive Weapon Balance Overhaul
This mod is buried in the details of the characteristics of the weapon. It rebalances everything—damage, recoil, scatter, armor piercing—to make it feel more realistic and skill-dependent. It is designed to make your choice of weapons matter, rewarding accuracy and control over the course of battle.

- Rebalancing weapons characteristics: Each weapon was configured to feel unique and serve a specific purpose.
- Skill-based gameplay: accurate aiming and disciplined shooting matter more than raw stats.
- Tuned time to kill: quick, immersive kills without trivializing gameplay. Works well with combat overhauls such as HARDCORE22V2.
✅ Gameplay changes: You’ll start thinking like a real mercenary. Is a submachine gun suitable for this skirmish, or do I need the stopping power of a revolver? Mod makes shootings more thoughtful and enjoyable.
Law Enforcement Overhaul
Police improved considerably with patch 2.0, but this takes them further. It adds many police factions and vehicles, with a dynamic response based on your location. Crime in Corpo Plaza brings very different trouble from a disturbance in the Badlands.

- New police factions: SWAT, mechs, NetWatch agents, sheriffs, and corporate security.
- Dynamic response system: The type of police that will arrive depends on the area’s wealth and jurisdiction.
- More aggressive AI: The police are much more aggressive in their pursuit and employ a variety of tactics.
✅ Gameplay changes: gaining a wanted star now feels like a real problem. The police feel like a real threat, not just an annoying obstacle. The added variety makes escaping the law far more dynamic and challenging.
Mod installation recommendations
Getting all these mods to work together is usually easy, but here are some tips:
Use a mod manager: Vortex is the easiest option, managing installation and load order rather than doing it all manually.
Read the descriptions: Always read the mod page! The authors indicate dependencies (other mods that need to be established first) and possible conflicts.
Basic frameworks: Most of these mods will require a set of fundamental utilities to work. Make sure you have the latest versions:
- Cyber Engine Tweaks (CET)
- RED4ext
- Redscript
- ArchiveXL & TweakXL
- Codeware
- Native Settings UI
Start with a clean setup: If you’re planning a massive reworking of realism, it’s often best to start by freshly installing the game without any other mods to avoid strange conflicts.
Making Cyberpunk more realistic
Together, these mods fundamentally change Cyberpunk 2077’s feel. High-level combat is no longer about slaughtering everything in sight. The city stops being a beautiful backdrop and becomes a photorealistic world that pulls you in and refuses to let go.
If you plan to get seriously into Cyberpunk modding, I recommend my mod collection with recommendations, where I explain how to avoid conflicts and put everything together properly.
Missed a great realism mod? Let me know. I am always looking for ways to make playthroughs more immersive. Write to me, and I will test your suggestions and may add them. Happy modding, choom.
